A week of snow has been hard on the scheduling of the Dons. What was to be a match on 1/26 with the Cardinals of Calvert Hall has been postponed for date to be determined. The match with Gilman and AACS for Friday 1/29 will be wrestled although school is out. A date that had been TBD-- Spalding, Marylands's #1 team has been scheduled for Monday 1/31 at Spalding. Of course the weather may yet have other plans.

Previously the Dons had been in action and taking exams for the past two weeks. At the MMM 8 tournament at the Community College of Baltimore Catonsville Campus saw Loyola finish tied for 17th place in the elite field. Mike Zito made it to the finals and placed second. Also placing for the Dons were David Mohler 4th and Conan Schuster 5th.

In an MIAA dual meet showdown the Dons visited the #7 Curley Friars and lost a close match 37-34. The JV Dons however came home with a close win.

Christmas Break--not much of one

The Loyola wrestling team was very busy over the Christmas break as the team was involved in a number of very tight matches. First up was a dual meet with Arundel at the time the number 20 ranked team. In a match that see-sawed back several times the Wildcats of Arundel came back for a one point win 36-35.

On the 29-30th of December the DOns were also competing in the very tough McDonogh Duals at McDonogh High School. Some of the teams involved in the Duals are a who's who of Maryland wrestling. Mcdonogh #2, Glenelg #6, Archbishop Curley #7, Old Mill #11, and South River#20 all had teams there facing the number 13 ranked Dons. Althougth starting with a rough match against MIAA rival McDonogh 56-15, the DOns then reeled off five wins to get themselves into the 3rd place match against Glenelg. The Dons lost that last match 39-31 and came home with the fourth place award.

Loyola's David Mohler, as has become the custom, took home best overall 103lb wrestler in the tournament.
